Gut Health Dietitian Wollongong
Living with gut symptoms can impact your whole life. You say no to plans, you scan every menu, and you never quite know what your stomach will do next.
Our gut health support is about helping you understand what's really going on in your body, and giving you a clear way forward. Not a quick fix, not a massive rule book. Just targeted and practical support that actually works.
Gut conditions we work with
We support a wide range of digestive concerns in clinic, from chronic, long term symptoms to new diagnoses, including:
-
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
-
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
-
Coeliac disease (both newly diagnosed and long term management)
-
Diverticular disease
-
Bloating, pain or general gut discomfort
-
Constipation, loose stools, or a bit of both
If you’re unsure about your diagnosis, still waiting on tests, or don’t know where to start, that’s okay. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come in. If needed, we’ll help guide you through the next steps and towards appropriate investigations.
How we approach gut health
A lot of gut health advice starts with one idea, cut everything out and see what happens. We simply don't work like that, unless there is a clear medical reason to do so.
Our focus is on:
-
Helping you understand your symptoms and the factors that may be impacting them
-
Nourishing your gut, rather than defaulting to heavy restriction unless it’s truly needed
-
Exploring different management options, including both dietary and lifestyle strategies
-
Supporting you during flares, not only when things are going well
-
Building long-term habits so you feel more in control of your gut
There is no single right way to support gut health. What works for one person may not work for another. That’s why we take the time to listen, understand your story, and create a plan that feels realistic, flexible, and supportive, now and in the long term.

Taking back control of your gut
In a gut health session, we slow things down and look at the whole picture.
We will chat about:
-
Your health story, test results and diagnoses
-
What your symptoms feel like and when they tend to occur
-
What a usual day of eating and living looks like for you
-
What you have already tried and how that went
From there, your dietitian will help you:
-
Make sense of your symptoms and patterns
-
Decide on one or two realistic starting points
-
Put together a clear plan for the next few weeks
-
Work out what to do when you have a flare, so you can tackle it calmly and practically
The goal is not a perfect gut. The goal is more good days than bad, fewer surprises, and a plan you can lean on when things are rough.
What to expect from a gut health appointment
Here is what usually happens in a gut consult:
-
You get time to tell your story without feeling rushed
-
We ask about your symptoms, your health background and what you want to change
-
We explain what might be driving your gut issues in a way that makes sense
-
Together we set a plan that could include food tweaks, routine changes and symptom strategies
-
You leave with notes or resources so you have something to look back on
-
Follow-up sessions are scheduled to continue fine tuning, adjusting and building confidence.
You can visit us in our Wollongong clinic on Crown Street, or book an online consult if you are elsewhere in New South Wales or around Australia.
